Featured Again at Niftypiks.com

My “Iceflake I” from my Imagekind site was reviewed again at Niftypiks.com. Please check out the review and feel free to comment either on that blog or mine. This is great. I found out that the  Niftypiks.com owner is part of a group I am involved with but I don’t know him! So thank you Nifty Galoot!

Got A Write-up for My “Iceflake I”

I am thrilled to announce I got written up in a column called “Art That Doesn’t Suck” on ArtOpinions.com. The piece is my Iceflake I (I am hoping there will be more soon, hence the numbering.) It is by someone I know.

I had never asked him to review my work since I didn’t want him to feel pressured into giving me a positive review since we are friends. To my delight, he found my artwork on his own and decided to feature me anyway.

Please check out his review by clicking here.

New Digital Stained Glass: Snowflake I is posted on Imagekind

Snowflake I © 2007 Maureen Grey

I have just posted a new design to my imagekind site. I have used images of snow, ice and water to create the patterns within the “glass”. I love geometric patterns and the whole idea that every snowflake is unique. The colors are primarily blue though the middle pattern is a inverted hue it looks like ice lit from below to me. I will also post this on my handforgedproduction site to be placed on a few select items but I think this is the best way to view my art.

Happy International Talk Like A Pirate Day

Ahoy yea scurvy dogs! This is SUCH a better holiday than Columbus day!

Check it out: www.talklikeapirate.com

I like the top ten pick up lines for both men and women. (And the fact they put 2 sets up for men because they are sure the first 10 won’t work.) Though #1 for women would work on a lot of guys if my friends are to be believed.

And I think we all need more silliness in our lives! What is a pirates’ favorite letter? Why “R” of course! P-)

Pirate Movies to check out—

Captain Blood (Errol Flynn) Though remember it was made in 1935 and not very enlightened on some fronts.

—————-

Cutthroat Island (Geena Davis) I know it was a commercial flop and I hear the one really cheesy line in it cited as the reason but given how bad some of the lines male movie stars have spit out I can’t see the reason for it. She kicked ass! We don’t want the guys to have all the fun for themselves…

—————-

Scooby Doo: Pirates Ahoy (for the kids) Word of warning. Anyone over the age of 7 will be bored to tears.

—————-

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, Geoffery Rush)

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (same cast)

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (same cast)

—————-

Pirates of Penzance
with Kevin Kline, Rex Smith (of Solid Gold fame but he can sing!) and Angela Lansbury

They now have a sign up list at Amazon for this on DVD. If enough people sign up then they make the DVD. So please sign up!

I think this is one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s best. I tried renting this from Netflix but ended getting the Broadway production instead. It was okay but not as much fun as the movie.

The link below is from the Pirate chorus and had a lot to do with why I liked the idea of pirates as a kid. I just showed this to my child and there was much singing and stomping around the house after! And what is not to like about Kevin Kline in thigh high captain boots and tight pants, dancing and singing?

With Cat Like Tread Chorus

Definitely check it out!
