Damn that’s a lot of spam

I moderate all the comments to my blog and I gotta say… wow. I just got rid of 281 comments. For the last week. None of which had anything to to with me or art or anything else of interest but which had a lot to do with proscription medications and things I won’t mention in polite company. I am by no means a prude but wow…

Makes me think of Daniel’s book. The Big Book of Spam. Hi Dan! Only his stuff is way funnier. Check it out.

Books to Check Out now has live links!

So now that I got the live links to work I will be adding many more books to the list. I can’t do them all right away but will try to add some every couple of days. I will soon be adding a DVDs to Check Out page. Stay tuned for more, same bat time, same bat channel!

More updates on Art to Check Out and other pages

And I have updated most of the other “to check out” pages as well. I will post many more Books to check out and DVDs to check out when I get my quick linker to work with Amazon.

And coming soon, my new Imagekind site. A place to buy high end prints of my art nicely matted and framed! I have over 50 more designs waiting in the wings it is just a matter of getting them all uploaded on to all the swag.

Not bad for only being up for a month. Stay tuned for more!

Banned Books Week

Banned Books Week 2007

The link above is for the ALA, American Library Association. I got the information below from them. By clicking the link above you can find out all kinds of information. The ALA has lists of the books that have been challenged and tons of other links about fighting censorhip!

Hard to think this is America, “Land of the Free” sometimes…

Banned Books Week: Celebrating the Freedom to Read is observed during the last week of September each year. Observed since 1982, this annual ALA event reminds Americans not to take this precious democratic freedom for granted. This year, 2007, marks BBW’s 26th anniversary (September 29 through October 6).

Important to Remember:

“Restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions. It is the one un-American act that could most easily defeat us.”—Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas,” The One Un-American Act.” Nieman Reports, vol. 7, no. 1 (Jan. 1953): p. 20.

Robert Jordan gone on, to the great Wheel of Time in the sky…

Robert Jordan of the Wheel of Time series passed away. Those of us who read his books will miss him. His blog Dragonmount has more news and information.

He kept me entertained for many hours reading his stories. I am reminded of Neil Gaman’s Sandman series where a character comes across the library of books written by authors who have died. All the great works by famous authors continued in the afterlife. Here is hoping that RJ gets to finish the finale to his series up somewhere in heaven.

Check out the the Robert Jordan Wheel of Time series. There are currently 11 books in the series and there was supposed to be a final 12th to finish it all. Hopefully his estate has some notes and won’t keep us in suspense forever.
