Heavy Lifting done… odds and ends left
Most of the major site changes have been done. Still need to clean up some of the code on the sites to see why a few things aren’t aligning but overall the heavy lifting is done so feel free to check out the new look and feel.
I will be unable to change the imagekind site since I don’t have access to the code. But I made new product highlights on MoGoLounge and Hand Forged. These will be updated further as I have more time.
Still got to get rid of the brown bar at the top of this site. Those links will move and then the whole thing will look cleaner.

Redesign in progress… a few snags but overall going well.
Okay, so there are a few more things to change. Please don’t be put off by any anomalies… I am working to fix everything but my body has decided I need sleep so I have to crash for now. But the new headers are up on all 3 sites and I have to track down why the extra copy is in my header here. I will do so when I am awake.
And I am pleased with the overall new look and brand of the headers for MoGo Lounge and Hand Forged Productions.
And if you are new to this blog then you don’t know that it looked COMPLETELY different about 5 hours ago.
Once again I have to thank Daniel my coding guru. I would have thrown the computer out the window without his help. Check him out at www.modestopinions.com.

Pod slurping and Bluesnarfing: Words of the Day
I do a lot of work for high tech companies and while typesetting for them I run across a lot of industry specific words. While typesetting a paper today I ran across Podslurping. I laughed and laughed for I am an imaginative person and pod slurping conjured up just about the right image for what they actually mean. A pod (think something like an iPod or another small storage device) sucking data out of a computer and you pretty much have the correct visual. Ingenious. I have mentioned before how much my family likes wordplay and I have to say this is right up our alley.
I was intrigued enough to look it up on Wikipedia and got the following definition below. It also led me to another word of the day: Bluesnarfing. Try to guess what that one is… Give up? Then look at the definition below.
Enjoy! —Maureen on the Go (MoGo)

Pod slurping
is the act of using a portable data storage device such as a digital audio player to illicitly download large quantities of confidential data by directly plugging it into a computer where the data is held, and which may be on the inside of a firewall. As these storage devices become smaller and their storage capacity becomes greater, they are becoming an increasing security risk to companies and government agencies. Access is gained while the computer is unattended.
There has been some work in the development of fixes to the problem, including a number of third-party security products that allow companies to set security policies related to USB device use, and features within operating systems that allow IT administrators or users to disable the USB port altogether. Unix-based or Unix-like systems can easily prevent users from mounting storage devices, and Microsoft has released instructions for preventing users from installing USB mass storage devices on its operating systems. [1]
Additional measures include physical obstruction of the USB ports, with measures ranging from the simple filling of ports with epoxy resin to commercial solutions which deposit a lockable plug into the port.

Bluesnarfing
is the unauthorized access of information from a wireless device through a Bluetooth connection, often between phones, desktops, laptops, and PDAs. This allows access to a calendar, contact list, emails and text messages, and on some phones users can steal pictures and private videos[citation needed] . Some programs must allow connection and to be ‘paired’ to another phone to steal content, but other programs can break into the phones without any control.[citation needed] Phone companies have also admitted that they own phones which are weak and can be broken into by blue snarfing software very easily.[citation needed]
Recently there have been cases of people calling premium rate numbers, without the user knowing.[citation needed] Bluesnarfing is much more serious in relation to Bluejacking, but both exploit others’ Bluetooth connections without their knowledge.[citation needed] Any device with its Bluetooth connection turned on and set to “discoverable” (able to be found by other Bluetooth devices in range) can be attacked.[citation needed] By turning off this feature, the potential victim can be safer from the possibility of being bluesnarfed; although, there are ways to bluesnarf a device that is set to “hidden”.[citation needed] For example, bruteforce can be used to guess the device’s MAC address. However, this is difficult because Bluetooth uses a 48-bit unique MAC Address, so there are over 280 trillion possible addresses to guess. Because bluesnarfing is an invasion of privacy, it is illegal in many countries.
Redesign in progress, Kenneth Branagh and more to come
I have a lot to add but have been slammed both at home and work with other things. So stay tuned it will all get posted probably this weekend.
That said, the other thing I am working on is a redesign of all the sites look and feel (except the imagekind site since I have not figured out any access to their code). So don’t be surprised if you come back here and think you have stumbled across this “evil twin”.
The beautiful clouds will go and be replaced with a header that maps more closely with the other two art sites. In some ways I would rather change those to this but the coding is so much easier to change here since I have full access vs. limited access since there I am fitting around someone else’s engine. Think of it like this. Here I can build it from scratch. There I can only put clothes on it. Or I would have to learn a lot more about coding and I just don’t have the time.
And I will add more about this later but if anyone is a Kenneth Branagh fan (like me) I found a site to explore. I had wondered what he was up to and I see he was busy. It sucks though that the 2 latest projects don’t appear to be slated to show in theaters here but are playing in the rest of the world. Damn! The Magic Flute (my favorite opera from my favorite composer done by one of my favorite directors… DAMN!) and As You Like It (which has Kevin Kline it!).
I started reading the reviews of both films and have to concede that most of the critics didn’t like them. Not having seen them I can’t venture to say whether you should check them out. I know that personally I liked his adaptation of Love’s Labours Lost (forgive me if I have punctuated that incorrectly I am rushing to post this). I look forward to seeing the films. He doesn’t always make the safe choice with standard actors but I found I enjoy his Shakespeare work better than all the others I have seen. And I have seen a lot of Shakespeare.

Woodcut Rose added to Imagekind site
My Woodcut Rose has been added to my imagekind gallery. I have chosen a beautiful frame and mat combination for a stark but handsome presentation. Because I like choices when I shop for art I have created the woodcut in 2 ways.
![]()
My favorite is the white rose on a rich black background. The starkness of the white organic shape really stands out against the background. But it is not the traditional woodcut.
So for the more traditional fans I have created a duplicate rose that is black lines on a white background. Either can be purchased at multiple sizes from Petite (8″x8″) to Massive (44″x44″).
I pulled these down from my Hand Forged Productions site while I revamp them slightly but they should be back up soon.
-MoGo (Maureen on the Go) says check it out.
