Robert Jordan gone on, to the great Wheel of Time in the sky…
Robert Jordan of the Wheel of Time series passed away. Those of us who read his books will miss him. His blog Dragonmount has more news and information.
He kept me entertained for many hours reading his stories. I am reminded of Neil Gaman’s Sandman series where a character comes across the library of books written by authors who have died. All the great works by famous authors continued in the afterlife. Here is hoping that RJ gets to finish the finale to his series up somewhere in heaven.
Check out the the Robert Jordan Wheel of Time series. There are currently 11 books in the series and there was supposed to be a final 12th to finish it all. Hopefully his estate has some notes and won’t keep us in suspense forever.
I shall miss Marcel Marceau… he was no joke
Marcel Marceau makes me think of Santa Barbara. I suppose that isn’t the first thing that comes to most people’s minds but it was where I got to see him perform for the first and only time. I was a young impressionable girl and didn’t know it wasn’t cool to like mimes. I thought he was fabulous! He could really make me see what I knew wasn’t there.
I liked his performance so much I ended up taking a mime/theater class. I didn’t turn out to be an actor, but I do have a love of live theater that is still with me. I tried looking Mr. Marceau up on youtube to see if there were any good links but I didn’t find anything I liked enough to include here.
So despite all the mime jokes… I shall miss Marcel Marceau. And that is no joke.
Happy International Talk Like A Pirate Day

I like the top ten pick up lines for both men and women. (And the fact they put 2 sets up for men because they are sure the first 10 won’t work.) Though #1 for women would work on a lot of guys if my friends are to be believed.
And I think we all need more silliness in our lives! What is a pirates’ favorite letter? Why “R” of course! P-)
Pirate Movies to check out—
Captain Blood (Errol Flynn) Though remember it was made in 1935 and not very enlightened on some fronts.
—————-
Cutthroat Island (Geena Davis) I know it was a commercial flop and I hear the one really cheesy line in it cited as the reason but given how bad some of the lines male movie stars have spit out I can’t see the reason for it. She kicked ass! We don’t want the guys to have all the fun for themselves…
—————-
Scooby Doo: Pirates Ahoy (for the kids) Word of warning. Anyone over the age of 7 will be bored to tears.
—————-
Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, Geoffery Rush)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (same cast)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (same cast)

Pirates of Penzance
with Kevin Kline, Rex Smith (of Solid Gold fame but he can sing!) and Angela LansburyThey now have a sign up list at Amazon for this on DVD. If enough people sign up then they make the DVD. So please sign up!
I think this is one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s best. I tried renting this from Netflix but ended getting the Broadway production instead. It was okay but not as much fun as the movie.
The link below is from the Pirate chorus and had a lot to do with why I liked the idea of pirates as a kid. I just showed this to my child and there was much singing and stomping around the house after! And what is not to like about Kevin Kline in thigh high captain boots and tight pants, dancing and singing?
Definitely check it out!
